As of September 23, 2024, the legacy PayPal version currently used by Third Party Stores will be discontinued. After this date, PayPal will no longer appear as a payment option at checkout for stores still using this version. If PayPal is the only payment provider enabled in your store, customers will not be able to complete payments until the account is updated.
To ensure uninterrupted payment processing and avoid disruptions in your sales, it’s crucial to update to the latest version of PayPal or enable an alternative payment provider before the deadline.
To update legacy PayPal for Third Party Stores:
-
In the side panel, click Sell Online and click Manage Store. In the Menu, select Payment to navigate to the Payment section.
-
In the list of available payment methods, locate the PayPal option.
-
Click Update PayPal. You will be redirected to the PayPal login page.
-
You will be prompted to log in with your PayPal email and password. This email will either be the one linked to your store or an email associated with an existing PayPal account (either Personal or Business). If needed, create a new account.
-
If you’re using a Personal PayPal account, PayPal may prompt you to upgrade to a Business account. This is necessary to enable features such as debit card payments and Pay Later. You will need the following details:
-
Business legal name
-
Business address and phone number
-
Estimated monthly sales
-
Website address
-
Tax ID number
-
Business owner personal information
-
For new or upgraded Business accounts, you’ll need to verify your email address before PayPal will allow payments to be processed.
-
-
Once you are redirected back to your store admin panel, configure PayPal as needed:
-
Enable PayPal Express Checkout and the Pay Later option.
-
Activate country-specific payment methods.
-
(Optional) Customize payment instructions for customers at checkout.
-
(Optional) Use the Limit PayPal availability by shipping method feature to restrict PayPal for specific shipping methods (e.g., excluding local delivery or in-store pickup).
-
